Prof. Alison does an excellent job engaging the students of Spanish I with many facets of the Spanish language. Her class includes listening, conversational, and written Spanish skills, all of which are important to making language learning usable in real life situations. She encourages student participation and engagement in breakout rooms, fun games, and timely feedback. Most of the class is in immersive Spanish, with appropriate check-ins for the beginner learners to be sure they understand instruction. The quizzes and tests have included listening and observing in addition to written work, which makes them seem more fun (and less intimidating). My daughter’s progress and her desire to continue learning after the completion of her first class was exciting to see. I was also impressed by how Ms. Osborn supplied games, links and recordings to lock French phrases and words into long-term memory between each class.
